“I am pleased that the Rye Historical Society has agreed to place on its site my book “Streets of Rye –How They Got Their Names (2022). I  wrote this book for the society.

I hope some readers will be able to find additional information on these topics and will share them with me, at paul.rheingold@gmail.com. 

My several years of research would have been shortened had AI been in existence. Now that it is available I have checked back on the names that were of unknown origin, and have had several “hits.”  For example, as to Guelisten Place: it was a fictional town in the novel "An Exaltation of Larks" by Suanne Laqueur. In this novel, characters like Alejandro Penda and Javier Landes are connected to the town of Guelisten.”
