What accessibility accommodations are available at the Square House Museum?

The Square House Museum is partially accessible. A ramp provides access to the front porch, and visitors using wheelchairs or other mobility devices can access the first floor.

Please note that the second floor is not wheelchair accessible. As a historic home, the museum also has original floors that may be uneven in some areas.

Where can I park when visiting the Square House Museum?

The Square House Museum does not have a dedicated parking lot. Visitors may use public parking in downtown Rye, including:

  • Free one-hour street parking on Purchase Street.

  • Metered municipal parking lots located just off Purchase Street.

Please be sure to follow all posted parking signs and time limits.

What are your hours?

The Square House Museum is open to visitors:

  • Tuesday–Friday: 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

    Admission is free, with a suggested $10 donation per guest to help support our mission.

Please note that the Knapp House Archives are currently closed for renovations.

Do you accept archival or collection donations?

The Rye Historical Society accepts research requests for a fee. To learn more about the research process, fees, and how to submit a request, please visit our Research Request page.

We are grateful for your interest in supporting the Rye Historical Society. At this time, however, we are unable to accept archival or collection donations while the Knapp House Archives are closed for renovations.

Please do not mail or leave items at the Square House Museum, as we are unable to add them to our collections at this time.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming donation inquiries again once the archives reopen.
