Gretchen Althoff Snyder - Director of Communications

Gretchen joined the Rye Historical Society as Director of Communications in 2018. A graduate of Bucknell University (BA) and Vermont Law School (JD), Gretchen was a civil litigator in Boston, MA for many years before returning to Rye to raise a family. From 2015 through 2025, Gretchen was a Contributing Writer for the Rye Record, a bi-weekly newspaper, penning more than 50 articles about life in and around the Rye community.

Natalie Hofstedt - Director of Programming

Natalie Hofstedt is the Director of Programming at the Rye Historical Society. She is a history professional with a BA in History from Fordham University. She is experienced in museum education and interpretation. Natalie leads the education and public programs and works closely with volunteers and interns to support the Historical Society’s ongoing initiatives. Natalie has a passion for historic preservation, conducting research, and facilitating community events.

Christine Moore - Archival Researcher

A Rye resident, Christine Moore has volunteered at the Rye Historical Society since 2011. Initially at the Knapp House Archives, she now works out of the Square House Museum. As the Archival Researcher Christine helps with house histories, genealogy queries as well as researching and transcribing the Historical Societies old documents.
