Rye: A Coastal Community

  • Rye Historical Society 1 Purchase Street Rye, NY, 10580 United States (map)

Discover how Rye’s location on Long Island Sound helped formed our unique city – geographically, historically, industrially, socially. We explore all different aspects of our coastal community. The natural resources  that attracted Indigenous people centuries ago. The industries that drove our economy, from farming, milling, shipbuilding and fishing. The recreational attraction of our beaches, hotels, water sports and amusement parks. And the on-going  ecological and preservation efforts.

Curated for all ages.

Exhibit is FREE and open Tuesday – Saturday, 10am to 4pm

Exhibition opening on September 15, 2023. This will be available for viewing for one year from the opening date.
